Language is an abstraction: Learn abstract words to learn efficiently
Learn abstract words
Language is first and foremost an abstraction. Why did humans invent language? To convey things that could not be shown to others concretely. Many learning aids and traditional method lessons are ineffective because they emphasis concrete things during the first year of learning. That is nouns about such as “dogâ€, “catâ€, “grandfatherâ€, “Firemanâ€, “Pianoâ€. These are all great words, but the most important words in a language are abstract. The most important of abstract words are verbs. Verbs are where the action is and every sentence has to have a verb. You can use “it†for the object of the sentence and many languages do not use personal pronouns, but the heart of a sentence is the verb.
Now which verbs? Again, not the elementary verbs like “swimâ€, “jump†but rather verbs that are abstract. “Think†“establish†“compare†Can you image if you did not waste your precious time learning farm animals and nouns you do not use in conversation everyday even things like fruits which you will learn anyway, and rather you focused on abstract words like high frequency verbs or conjunctions like “that†“but†or words like “always†or “someoneâ€. This is how you learn a language fast.
