I believe every method to learn a language is a good method. However I have found reading children’s books a bit boring. Reading children’s books in English is interesting, because I can read one in under five minutes. However, reading children’s books in a foreign language does not keep my interest as much as reading a classic in which every sentence you can think about. Further often children’s books often have strange vocabulary. But on the other hand they are very imaginative so they can be fun. But I would prefer to read an adult fantasy book like ‘Lord of the rings’ even if I have to translate every page word by word.

Children’s’ books often have a combination of simple vocabulary and slangy funny words for children. If this is one of your methods for learning languages, do it. Every method is good as long as you enjoy it.
