Understanding a foreign language

Foreign language

If you have never understood a foreign language to the point of comprehension, what it feels like before you reach fluency is - he is saying ’something about this’ or ’something about that’.  It does not feel like our beloved English, but it does not feel all bad either. You do not listen to every word but you understand generally what is going on.  Eventually it will feel like English if you are immersed in the language. So do not worry if you do not understand everyword, you understand the idea of the speaker not the words. But this is what you do in English anyway. Your brain does not get stuck on words but understands generally the concepts of the speaker. In fact if you focus too hard even on an English speaker its hard to understand what he is trying to convey.
