Learn prepositions in a foreign language

The best way to learn prepositions is to take one object, one noun such as “book” or “pen” and learn sentences with this book in many situations. For example: the book is in on the table, the book is under the table, the book is with the man, the book is with the women, the book is in the fish tank. Try to find one simple concrete noun and play it out in as many scenarios (prepositions) as you can. Use your imagination. Prepositions in most languages are not as easy as in English as many languages have cases which take the place of prepositions or complement prepositions. Further many foreign languages have gender. I agree completely that it is way more helpful to learn phrases and vocabulary in context. When learning French and Spanish, in order to remember the gender of a noun I would always learn the noun alongside the article and an adjective that would change its sound depending on the gender. For example, by always creating my vocabulary notes as ‘la maison belle’ instead of just ‘maison’ I could always hear the phrase in my head and remember the gender. I worked really well, I recommend this method of note taking to anyone!
