SAT scores and foreign language study

There is a positive correlation between SAT scores and the studied a foreign languages.
Data from the SAT board is as follows:
0 years of foreign language study, SAT scores were 366 on verbal and 409 on math.
1 year of foreign language study, SAT scores were 378 on verbal and 416 on math.
2 years of foreign language study, SAT scores were 417 on verbal and 463 on math.
5 years of foreign language study, SAT scores were 504 on verbal and 535 on math.

What this study on SATs and foreign languages do not prove

Note: This was not the entire universe of students studying foreign languages and taking the SATs, however, it a sample sizes of a few hundred students. Further, this does not mean studying foreign languages makes you brighter, simple rather those who study foreign languages score better.

What foreign languages will do to your brain

On the other hand: it could mean studying foreign languages do make you brighter. And in my own experience it opens up your brain so much that it does not matter how you measure your cognitive function whether with SAT or IQ etc, there is not way you can tell me that studying foreign languages is not like gymnastics for your brain. Studying a foreign language will stretch and expand and strengthen your brain better than any almost anything.
