Genetics and language learning
If you are of French blood does this mean you will speak and learn French with ease, even if you were born in California, and a surfer dude? Maybe. It sounds crazy right? well, although no strong conclusive evidence is found, it appear that were your ancestors were from could determine what specific abilities you have in language. I have always joked about the reason I was able to learn Polish was my grandparents came from Poland.

The current investigation is looking at this on a macro level and more concerned with Asian compared to European language groups, but I would suspect that even within European languages, genetic variations can be found with various specific abilities connected to the languages spoken. I know personally Polish is so very different than English and I use different parts of my brain in very different ways. Could my brain be wired for speaking Polish? Learning a language might be in your genes - might be.
