Meditation or deep relaxation for language learning

and langauage learning

Are you looking for the next new thing to learn languages? Try one of the oldest and easiest methods. Relax.
‘fools the brain’ in a threatening world By R J Ignelzi-Thanks to cutting-edge technologies like functional MRI scans, neuroscientists can look inside the brain to see if actually produces physical change. Although they’re still not sure how works, research is beginning to show that, in fact, it does. Science is now validating that might enhance memory and attention. A study at Massachusetts General Hospital found that parts of the brain’s cerebral cortex were thicker in people who had practiced daily for just 40 minutes for several years. ” Simon says. “Physiologically, when the brain is functioning in a more relaxed state, it’s able to absorb and retain memory better.”
Try meditating or deeply relaxing or sleeping after you study for your target language. I have seen many places that use this technique to increase retention. It might not seem efficient to do nothing, but when it comes to learning languages it appears to help.

For me it helps to exercise a bit. Go cycling or whatever, as long as blood flows to my head I can study.

I use meditating to fall asleep, though, and it works very well!

@Isle You have the right formula. I swim and it not only keeps my blood flowing but it makes it so I am less restless when I study. And for that is huge as I get board very easy. Meditation is similar to sleep. It helps the brain process and filter information based on importance, its really does relax you and many times I fall asleep also. See I am writing a few language learning programs and I am experimenting that is the most effective way to learn and memorize. I have looked at studies etc, but I am trying to base it a lot on my experience on what is effective and what is hype. For me I am coming to the conclusion better than any hyped super learning technique, deep relaxation after you study helps assimilate information. I am working on some things that will help this.
