Radio rather than TV for learning a foreign language

Why I like radio over TV for learning a foreign language learning

Many people claim, TV is a great way to learn a foreign language. I agree, as my theory is any way to learn a language is a good way, as long as you are into it. But for me, I prefer to listen to the radio. Why? Because radio is made for listening. The speakers pronunciation are generally much clearer than TV. There are less distractions than TV. And instead of saying, “oh I know what they are saying”, because you see what is going on via the TV images, your brain is forced to listen with the radio, and understand the foreign language, rather than guess what is going on based on the pictures. The brain is very lazy and will always try to guess based on pictures using TV, but with radio, its all up to your understanding of the language. So this is why I prefer radio to learn a language.

this is so true! as an exchange student in france i found that listening the radio for ten minutes i heard more than 3 hours worth of TV programs

@ Caitlin I have to follow more of my own advice. I get very lazy and watch TV saying, I am doing something to for my language learning, but more often than not I listen to English under the Polish lecture. While, radio is pure clear language. One of my friends learned English Mostly from listening to the BBC on the internet, and some basic vocabulary.
