Language processing truly takes place all though the brain with different languages utilizing different centers. Polish and Chinese speakers use more of their brain as seen on PET scans then English speakers. There is no such physical language center is currently known. However, Broca’s area and Wernicke’s area have both been shown to be important in language processing and, as a result, are normally considered parts of the language center.
Broca’s area is located on the left site of the brain with above/in front/ your ear. It is largely connect with universal grammar. It responds with only with phrase structure rules like those that govern human speech that Broca’s area is activated, it is not activated by linear rule
Wernicke’s area is again on the left site but above/behind of your ear. This area is associated with language comprehension. Comprehension of the spoken word.
In future post I will write about ideas of how to stimulate these areas.
